To convert other file formats to the "Mod or Configuration File" file type, you need software like Penumbra and AutoCAD or a similar tool.
About PMP files
The .PMP file extension is heavily fragmented across multiple, completely unrelated software ecosystems. Most frequently, it acts as a mod package for the game Final Fantasy XIV, loaded via the Penumbra mod loader or TexTools. Internally, these gaming .PMP files are standard ZIP archives containing textures and 3D meshes. The second major use case is as a Plotter Model Parameter file in Autodesk AutoCAD, which stores custom calibration data for specific physical printers and plotters. Other minor uses include proprietary thumbnails for Sony Cyber-shot cameras, photo album metadata for Sony PlayMemories, and old scrapbook projects from Hemera Photomix. The extreme fragmentation of the .PMP format causes significant confusion. If you receive a .PMP file, your operating system will not know how to open it natively. The FFXIV mod files are large and locked to specific third-party modding tools, while AutoCAD parameter files are useless without the exact accompanying PC3 plotter file and the proprietary AutoCAD software. Sony's thumbnail and metadata files are entirely proprietary, obsolete, and lack support in modern web browsers or standard image viewers. For gaming mods, the best approach is to rename or convert the file to a standard ZIP archive to extract the raw PNG or DDS textures. AutoCAD .PMP files are pure data and usually cannot be converted directly, but related drawing files should be exported to PDF for sharing. If you have a Sony .PMP image thumbnail, you must convert it to a standard JPG or WebP file for web and desktop viewing.
