Convert JST to another file type
To convert JST templates to another format, you need Underscore.js or other Developer software.
Convert a file to JST
To convert other file formats to the "Template & Encrypted Data" file type, you need software like Underscore.js or a similar tool.
About JST files
The .JST file extension is most commonly associated with JavaScript Template files. Web development frameworks like Underscore.js use these templates to dynamically generate HTML content by merging raw data with predefined structures. Alternatively, the .JST extension is used as an encrypted steganography data file generated by JSteg, an application that hides secret data within JPEG images. It is also utilized by eyeo GmbH for anti-circumvention JavaScript snippets, by Sassafras Software as KeyServer script extensions, and by Apache Gobblin as job state files.
The main disadvantage of the .JST format is its highly context-dependent nature. If it is a JavaScript template, it requires a specific rendering engine to be parsed into standard browser-readable code. If it is a JSteg file, it is a proprietary, encrypted binary file that is completely inaccessible without the original steganography software and the correct decryption keys. Because these files serve highly specialized developer or security functions, they are not natively supported by standard web browsers or word processors.
Users typically need to convert .JST templates to standard JS (JavaScript), HTML, or TXT to make the code readable and executable outside of the original development framework. However, standard online converters often fail to process these files because they cannot interpret the proprietary templating syntax or extract encrypted byte structures. Since .JST files can also be ZIP-based KeyServer scripts, our tool will inspect the internal headers. If our analysis detects a standard text format or an embedded archive structure, viewing or conversion may still be possible despite the file's obscure nature.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JST file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert JST file to IST, EST, PST, UTC, CST, PDT, EDT, EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE or PAK, you can use Underscore.js or similar software from the "JavaScript Templating & Steganography" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to JST, try Underscore.js or another comparable tool in the "JavaScript Templating & Steganography" category.
The JST Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JST converter.
