About EDT files

The .edt file extension is highly fragmented and used by several entirely different software applications. Its most common use is as a qPCR (quantitative polymerase chain reaction) experiment template file for QuantStudio Design and Analysis Software. In this scientific context, it stores plate setups and run methods. Another major use is as an editor data file or configuration file for the Football Manager video game series by Sports Interactive, where it stores custom database edits, stadium templates, or staff data. It is also used as a diagram template by Wondershare EdrawMax, an external CAE document by EPLAN, and a school timetable file by Index Education.

Because .edt is a shared extension for proprietary formats, standard online converters fail to process it. You cannot open a Football Manager data file in QuantStudio, and vice versa. These files are highly specific to their parent software and generally useless without it. Furthermore, some are encrypted game archives (like in Seal Online or Metin2), while others are plain text (UTF-8), XML, or ZIP containers disguised with the .edt extension.

To safely handle an .edt file, you must first identify its origin. Our tool can inspect the file signature, extract internal text, and show embedded content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format like XML or ZIP, partial viewing or conversion to generic formats like TXT or ZIP may be possible. Otherwise, you will need the original software to read or export the data properly.

Convert.Guru analyzes your EDT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted EDS, ODT, JPG, PDF, JPEG, QLB, ZPCR, STS, UTC, EST, CST, IST and PST files.

The EDT Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EDT converter.
