The .RML file extension serves multiple entirely different purposes, making it frustrating to handle without the right software. The most common variant is an ASUS Resource Monitor Log, generated by ASUS Armoury Crate. These files store hardware performance metrics like CPU temperature, voltage, and clock speeds over time. Another major use is Report Markup Language, an XML-based format used by ReportLab or Elixir Technology to define page layouts before rendering them into PDF documents. Other specific uses include RimWorld Modlists, Autodesk Redline Markup files, and RmlUi interface documents.
Because these formats are highly specific, you cannot simply open an .RML file in a standard word processor. Users often need to convert ASUS log files to CSV or TXT to analyze data in Microsoft Excel. For Report Markup Language, the intended target is almost always PDF, but requires the ReportLab engine to process the XML tags and render the visual layout properly.
