In the legacy multimedia realm, Director cast files act as localized containers that store assets like audio, bitmap images, and Lingo scripts used in interactive CD-ROMs.
To interact with vinyl cutting designs, you must use Roland CutStudio. Opening multimedia cast files requires Adobe Director, a platform officially discontinued in 2017. Other software ecosystems also utilize the .CST extension, including Dassault Systèmes CST Studio Suite for electromagnetic simulation projects, and the Call of Duty series for saving game configuration settings.
The core disadvantage of the .CST format is its rigid, proprietary nature.
