About GME files
The .GME extension refers to two distinct but widely used binary formats. The most common is the DexDrive Memory Card Image, a proprietary container created by the InterAct DexDrive hardware to transfer PlayStation 1 save data to a PC. While excellent for archiving legacy saves, this format is often incompatible with modern emulators like DuckStation, RetroArch, and ePSXe, which require raw memory dumps (Raw Binary, MCR, or BIN). Users frequently encounter frustration when legacy backups fail to load in current software. Converting these files strips the proprietary DexDrive header, making the save data universally readable.
The second major use is for the Ravensburger Tiptoi educational pen. These .GME files contain the interactive logic and encoded Ogg Vorbis audio triggered by the pen's optical sensor. Because these files are encrypted and proprietary, users cannot easily listen to the audio or modify the content without tools like tttool. Converting or extracting data from Tiptoi files is essential for creating custom scripts, backups, or inspecting the audio assets.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GME file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted MCR, MCD, MCS, SRM, PSV, GAME, ZIP, MCB, VMP, BIN, CUE, TXT and XAPK files.
The GME Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GME converter.
