About CUE files

A .CUE file (Cuesheet) is a plain text metadata file that describes the layout of tracks on a Compact Disc or DVD. Originally developed for CDRWIN, these files act as a roadmap for media players and burning software, pointing to a specific associated binary or audio file (such as BIN, WAV, FLAC, or APE) and defining exactly where each track begins and ends.

While essential for exact disc replication, .CUE files present significant usability challenges. Because they are merely text pointers, they contain no actual audio or data; if the referenced source file is renamed, moved, or corrupted, the .CUE becomes useless. Furthermore, many modern media players and mobile devices do not natively support Cuesheets, leaving users with a single, massive audio file that lacks track indexing. To resolve these compatibility issues, users should convert the .CUE structure into standard playlists like M3U for web and media players, or use the Cuesheet to split the monolithic source file into individual MP3, FLAC, or M4A tracks. For archiving and burning purposes, converting the Cuesheet and its data into a standard ISO or BIN image ensures long-term accessibility.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CUE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted BIN, CHD, FLAC, APE, PBP, 7Z, MP3, ISO, WAV, ECM, PSX, ZIP and WV files.
