About SRM files

The .srm file extension is primarily associated with Save RAM (SRAM) data used by video game emulators, most notably RetroArch and Snes9x. These files store in-game progress (saved games) for systems like the Super Nintendo (SNES) and PlayStation. While they effectively serve as memory cards, the data structure can vary between emulators. For example, a RetroArch .srm file for PlayStation might contain raw memory card data that is incompatible with standalone emulators like ePSXe, which expect mcr or mem files. Users frequently need to convert .srm files to generic sav formats to transfer progress to hardware flash carts (like EverDrive), or convert them to mcr for cross-emulator compatibility. Additionally, in the hobbyist world, .srm files are used by Spektrum RC transmitters to store model presets in a JSON structure. These text-based files contain complex aircraft or vehicle telemetry settings that are difficult to edit directly on the transmitter, prompting users to convert them to PDF for reference or view them in text editors.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SRM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SAV, STATE, MCR, N64, SAVE, SGM, GME, MCD, MCS, SRA, BIN, DSV and SRAM files.

The SRM Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SRM converter.
