Extract text from Omron and CutList projects (CXP)

The .CXP file extension is primarily an Omron PLC programming project created by the CX-Programmer software. This file stores Programmable Logic Controller data, including ladder logic, symbol tables, memory layouts, and network configurations for industrial automation systems. Secondary uses include cabinet design project files for CutList Plus, healthcare software test data for Caristix (which uses a renamed ZIP architecture), and physics simulations for Yenka Crocodile Physics (which uses standard XML).
The core disadvantage of the primary Omron .CXP format is vendor lock-in. It is a strictly proprietary, closed binary format. Files frequently exceed several megabytes for complex automated systems and require an expensive, heavy software suite to open. You cannot open a .CXP file in a web browser, and you cannot view the ladder logic using a simple text editor. This creates major bottlenecks for maintenance technicians who need to troubleshoot machines but do not have a licensed copy of CX-One installed on their laptops.
Users typically need to convert .CXP files to PDF to distribute electrical logic diagrams to field engineers, or to CSV and TXT to export tag databases for integration with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens. Converting Omron projects into competing formats like Siemens or Rockwell is impossible through standard tools due to fundamental differences in PLC memory architectures.
Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Often, only the original Omron software can properly read or export the data.
