About VPC files

The .vpc file extension represents a collision of distinct technical worlds, primarily serving as a data container for VideoPsalm, a free worship presentation tool. In this context, the file acts as a portable content package or backup, bundling lyrics, Bible verses, video backgrounds, and theme settings. Technically, these are often renamed ZIP archives, which makes them accessible if you know the trick, but frustratingly opaque if you try to double-click them on a machine without VideoPsalm installed.

The primary problem for users is proprietary lock-in. A church media director cannot import a .vpc file directly into Microsoft PowerPoint or ProPresenter, rendering the content useless for migration or sharing outside the VideoPsalm ecosystem. To salvage the assets, the best workflow is often treating the file as a ZIP to extract raw JPG images and MP4 videos. For the text data (lyrics/scripture), conversion options are limited to exporting as PDF for print or plain text for re-entry.

A significant minority of .vpc files are Virtual Point Cloud projects created by Leica Geosystems for their Cyclone software. These are heavy, complex 3D datasets used in surveying and engineering. These files require the original software to view or convert into interoperable point cloud formats like E57, LAS, or RCP for use in AutoCAD or Revit. Attempting to open a Leica .vpc with a text editor or archive tool will result in errors or gibberish.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VPC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted BAK, VCF, JSON, ZIP, SAV, TORRENT, PROBUNDLE, PRO4 and RCP files.

The VPC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VPC converter.
