The primary disadvantage of the .PRO4 format is its closed, proprietary nature and reliance on legacy software. It requires a paid license for ProPresenter to open or edit properly. Furthermore, .PRO4 files typically do not embed large media assets like videos or high-resolution images; instead, they store absolute file paths. This causes broken links and missing backgrounds when the file is transferred to a different computer without bundling the associated media. Because it is tied to an outdated version of the software, modern compatibility is limited.
