However, this precision comes with significant usability friction. .STP files are strictly for engineering environments; they cannot be opened by standard image viewers, web browsers, or 3D slicers used for printing. They are often large, text-based ASCII files that require heavy computational power to parse. To utilize these models outside of professional engineering, users must convert them. For 3D printing, convert to STL or 3MF to generate the necessary mesh. For web viewing and AR/VR applications, convert to GLB or OBJ. For easier documentation and archiving without specialized software, converting to 3D PDF is the standard solution.
