About X_T files

A .x_t file is a text-based 3D model file saved in the Parasolid format, a geometric modeling kernel owned by Siemens Digital Industries Software. These files store highly precise 3D geometry, topology, and color data used for manufacturing and computer-aided design (CAD).

Engineers typically open .x_t files using high-end engineering software like Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.

The main disadvantage of the .x_t format is its rigid ecosystem. Viewing or editing these files requires expensive, specialized CAD subscriptions. Clients, manufacturers, or marketing teams without Parasolid-compatible software cannot natively open these files. Furthermore, text-based CAD files can become exceptionally large for complex assemblies compared to their binary counterparts.

To share your 3D model easily, convert the .x_t file. For universal engineering exchange, convert to STEP or IGES. If you need to 3D print the model, convert to STL or OBJ. For web integration, GLTF is ideal.

Convert.Guru analyzes your X_T file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted XT, STP, SLDPRT, ZIP, STEP, X_B, DWG, SLDASM, PRT, PDF, BIN, STL and DXF files.

FAQ

If you want to convert X_T file to STEP, STL, PDF, DWG, STP, OBJ, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP or 3DM, you can use Siemens NX or similar software from the "3D CAD Model Exchange" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to X_T, try Siemens NX or another comparable tool in the "3D CAD Model Exchange" category.

The X_T Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our X_T converter.
