A .LBF file is a proprietary backup archive created by LG Electronics mobile devices using apps like LG Mobile Switch or LG Bridge. It stores user data including contacts, text messages, call logs, and application data. The main disadvantage of this format is its locked ecosystem; it is designed solely to restore data to another LG smartphone. Opening it directly on a PC or non-LG phone requires specialized workflows. Since LG exited the smartphone market, recovering data from legacy .LBF files has become a major challenge for users. Some versions of this file use standard GZ or ZIP compression under the hood. You need to convert or extract this file to standard formats like VCF for contacts or XML and CSV for messages to migrate your data to modern Android or iOS devices.
