About LBX files
The .lbx file extension primarily represents a Brother P-touch Editor Label file. These files store layout data, text, barcodes, and embedded images used to print physical adhesive labels. Under the hood, modern .lbx files are structured as ZIP archives containing XML layout instructions and graphic assets. A rare secondary use of the .lbx extension is the legacy FoxPro Label File, used by Microsoft Visual FoxPro to format database reports.
You can natively open and edit standard .lbx files using Brother P-touch Editor or specialized tools like LabelBuddy. Some online viewer services like Labelary also interact with various label formats. However, the .lbx format is heavily proprietary and locked to the Brother hardware ecosystem.
The main disadvantage of the .lbx format is its rigid lack of portability. You cannot view an .lbx file in a web browser, mobile device, or standard document viewer. It demands the installation of heavy, manufacturer-specific software, making it extremely frustrating to share label proofs with clients or colleagues who do not own a Brother printer.
To solve this, convert your .lbx files for universal compatibility. For high-quality printing or archiving proofs, convert to PDF. If you need to share a quick visual preview on the web or in an email, convert to PNG or JPG. Just drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LBX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LBX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LBX converter.
