Extract text from email backup files (FBW)

The .FBW file format is primarily used as a backup archive. The majority of these files are email backups generated by The Bat!, a popular email client developed by Ritlabs. This archive safely stores user emails, address books, attachments, and account configurations. Another frequent variation belongs to HP Recovery Manager, used on Hewlett-Packard computers to safeguard user files before initiating a complete system restore.
The main disadvantage of .FBW files is their highly proprietary and closed nature. They are not standard archives like ZIP or RAR. You cannot simply open an .FBW file in a standard text editor, file browser, or web browser. Without installing the original software, the data inside is effectively locked. Furthermore, because they are system or email backups, these files frequently exceed several gigabytes, making them cumbersome to manage or transfer.
Because an .FBW is a proprietary container rather than a single document, direct conversion to a format like PDF or JPG is impossible. The required solution is data extraction. To access emails stored in a The Bat! backup, you must restore the .FBW file within the application, and then export the individual emails to universal EML or MBOX formats. HP backups must be restored using the native HP Recovery utility to retrieve your original standard documents and media.
