Convert DAG to another file type
To convert DAG 3D models to another format, you need Microsoft Word or other Data software.
Convert a file to DAG
To convert other file formats to the "Fragmented Proprietary Data" file type, you need software like Microsoft Word or a similar tool.
About DAG files
The .DAG file extension does not represent a single standardized format. It is a highly fragmented file type utilized across four distinct industries. Most commonly, it acts as a container for Microsoft Word documents utilizing a standard ZIP architecture. It is also extensively used by the Gaijin Dagor Engine (powering games like War Thunder) to store 3D game model assets. Additionally, .DAG files function as financial market Data Analytics Graphs for CQG Inc. and Kpler, or as compressed 7z relay data snapshots for NR Electric protection relays.
The main disadvantage of the .DAG format is its proprietary, fragmented nature. Because completely isolated software ecosystems use the exact same file extension, your operating system cannot reliably assign a default program to open it. The financial data graphs require expensive commercial software subscriptions to read, and the 3D game assets are usually locked inside compiled binary containers. Standard web browsers cannot render them, and sharing them with clients or colleagues often leads to error messages.
Standard online converters typically fail to process .DAG files because they blindly trust the file extension. Generic tools do not know if they are handling a 3D model, a financial database, or a zipped text document, which results in failed conversions. This is why this file format is difficult to open or convert. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
When conversion is possible, you should target universal formats. If the file is an underlying Word archive, convert it to DOCX or PDF. For electrical relay snapshots, extracting the internal data to CSV or TXT is optimal. Game engine assets should ideally be exported to OBJ or FBX, though complex textures and rigged animations will almost certainly be lost outside the native engine.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DAG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DAG file to G, DG, CG or MG, you can use Microsoft Word or similar software from the "Multi-format Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert files to DAG, try Microsoft Word or another comparable tool in the "Multi-format Data Storage" category.
The DAG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DAG converter.
