About BCM files
The .BCM file extension is a fragmented format used by entirely different systems. Most frequently, it acts as a block-based coding project file for the Kittenbot educational ecosystem, where it stores data in the standard JSON format. Alternatively, it is widely encountered in enterprise environments as a legacy data export from Microsoft Business Contact Manager, an obsolete add-on for Microsoft Outlook. In gaming, a .BCM file often represents a custom map for Boneworks built with Unity (using UnityFS) or a 3D model binary for Konami's eFootball/PES series. The primary disadvantage of dealing with .BCM files is this extreme fragmentation. You cannot simply double-click the file and expect your computer to know what to do. Microsoft Business Contact Manager is discontinued, making old customer data exports extremely difficult to open without setting up an outdated Windows environment and a legacy SQL Server instance. Meanwhile, Kittenbot files are locked into their specific block-programming interface, even though the underlying data is just text. For targets, Kittenbot files are best converted to JSON or TXT for manual editing. Business Contact data desperately needs conversion to CSV, XLSX, or PST for modern CRM imports. Boneworks maps are proprietary Unity assets that cannot be easily converted to standard 3D formats like OBJ or FBX without specialized extraction tools. Because this format is so varied, standard online converters usually fail. They assume the file belongs to one specific program and corrupt the data if they guess incorrectly.
