Convert a file to TCF
To convert other file formats to the "Machine Embroidery File" file type, you need software like Tajima DG/ML or a similar tool.
About TCF files
A .TCF file most commonly stores a Tajima Condensed embroidery design. These files contain vector-based outlines and stitch generation rules used by Tajima embroidery machines and software like Tajima DG/ML. Because they are condensed, they allow dynamic scaling without losing stitch density.
However, .TCF files are strictly proprietary. You cannot open them without specialized, expensive CAD software, and they are entirely unsupported by web browsers or standard operating systems. Furthermore, the .TCF extension is heavily fragmented. Depending on the creator, it might instead be an SQLite-based 3D scan project from Trimble, a GZIP pager configuration for Swissphone, or a UTF-8 thermal report template for FLIR Tools. This ambiguity makes handling these files extremely frustrating.
To manufacture an embroidery design, conversion is mandatory. Convert to DST, PES, or EXP to ensure compatibility with broader machine brands like Brother or Bernina. If you simply need to view the design or upload it to the web, convert to WebP, PNG, or JPG. For archiving or sharing specifications, convert to PDF.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TCF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TCF file to CLB, BCM, BCF, TCM, TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW or PART, you can use Tajima DG/ML or similar software from the "Embroidery Machine Design Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to TCF, try Tajima DG/ML or another comparable tool in the "Embroidery Machine Design Storage" category.
The TCF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TCF converter.
