To convert other file formats to the "Vehicle Fragment File" file type, you need software like OpenIV or a similar tool.
A .wft file is primarily a Vehicle Fragment used in the modding and game data structure of Grand Theft Auto IV. These files are proprietary containers designed for the RAGE Engine, storing not just the 3D geometry of a car, but also its skeleton, breakage points (damage model), and physics data.
For gamers and modders, the main limitation is that .wft files are binary and locked; they cannot be opened directly in standard 3D software like Blender or Autodesk Maya. To edit a car's geometry or apply a new skin, you must first convert the file using specialized middleware. The most common workflow involves using ZModeler to import the .wft directly for editing, or using OpenIV to export the model to open formats like OBJ or DAE (Collada). Note that texture data is usually stored separately in a corresponding wtd (Texture Dictionary) file, which must also be converted to PNG or DDS to see the model correctly.
In a corporate environment, a .wft file is likely a Workflow Process Definition used by Oracle Workflow. These files define business process logic and are typically loaded into a database using the WFLOAD utility or opened with the Oracle Workflow Builder. Rarely, .wft may refer to a waveform data file from DASYLab.
