About TPS files
A .TPS file is primarily a TopSpeed database file used by SoftVelocity Clarion software to store relational data. Secondarily, it may function as a JPS GNSS receiver log from Topcon, a Tableau preferences color palette (which is an XML file), or an oscilloscope measurement data file from TiePie engineering. Users often need to convert .TPS files because TopSpeed databases are proprietary, legacy formats. Opening a Clarion .TPS file without the original application or the official TopSpeed ODBC driver is extremely difficult. The format does not integrate natively with modern BI tools or web browsers, making data extraction highly frustrating. Users typically want to convert these databases to CSV, XLSX, or SQL formats to regain access to their data. For other variants, such as Topcon GNSS logs, users frequently convert them to RINEX for broader compatibility in geospatial software. Because the dominant TopSpeed format is a closed, proprietary database, standard online converters often fail to process it completely. Complex table structures and indexes are hard to parse without official drivers.
