The .SES file extension represents a diverse range of proprietary session data, most notably serving as the legacy multitrack project format for Adobe Audition (formerly Cool Edit Pro) and as diagnostic log files for Volkswagen Group's ODIS software.

For audio professionals, the primary challenge with .SES files is that they do not contain actual audio data; they are small metadata files (often under 100KB) that function as a map, telling the software how to arrange and mix external WAV or PCM files stored on your hard drive. Because of this, you cannot simply "convert" a standalone .SES file to MP3 or FLAC using a standard online converter without the accompanying source media - a frequent source of user frustration. Additionally, modern versions of Audition use the XML-based SESX format, requiring legacy import steps to open older projects.
