About FLP files
The .flp file extension is most commonly associated with FL Studio Project files, developed by Image-Line. It saves the complete arrangement of audio tracks, synthesized instruments, MIDI data, automation, and mixer settings for a digital audio workstation (DAW) project. Secondary uses include ActivInspire Flipchart files by Promethean for interactive educational smartboards, and Virtual Floppy Disk Images for legacy hardware emulation. For music producers, .flp files are strictly proprietary and come with significant limitations. They do not contain actual audio recordings, only references to local audio files and plugins. This means if you move the file to another computer missing those specific plugins or audio samples, the project breaks. You cannot play a .flp file in a standard media player; opening it requires a paid FL Studio license. To share your track, you must render the project. For web use and basic sharing, convert your exported mix to MP3 or Ogg Vorbis. For high-fidelity archiving or professional mastering, convert to a lossless format like WAV or FLAC.
