Convert SCE to another file type
To convert your SCE file to another format, you need Scilab or other Developer software.
Convert a file to SCE
To convert other file formats to the "Numerical Computation Script" file type, you need software like Scilab or a similar tool.
About SCE files
The .SCE extension is utilized by multiple disparate systems, creating significant confusion for users attempting to open or convert these files. The most prevalent format is the Scilab Executable Script, a text-based file used by Scilab, an open-source software for numerical computation similar to MATLAB. These scripts contain sequences of commands intended to be executed immediately, unlike library function files (.SCI).
While Scilab scripts are technically plain text, they are often locked to the Scilab environment for execution. Sharing them with colleagues who do not have the software installed is problematic. To improve accessibility for documentation or archiving, users often need to convert these scripts to PDF or TXT.
A secondary but critical use case is the Associated Signature Container (ASiC) defined by ETSI standards. These files are often disguised ZIP archives containing digitally signed documents and their signatures, commonly used in European e-government systems via software like DigiDoc4. Users frequently struggle to open these without specific regional software. Renaming the extension to ZIP or using a conversion tool can often allow extraction of the contained documents (usually PDF or XML).
Other less common formats include YASARA molecular dynamics scenes or compiled game data from the Npluto engine. These are binary formats that cannot be viewed in a text editor and usually require the original proprietary software to access.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SCE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SCE file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Scilab or similar software from the "Scilab Executable Script" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to SCE, try Scilab or another comparable tool in the "Scilab Executable Script" category.
The SCE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SCE converter.
