About RFT files
Rich Text Format (RTF) is a document file format that was developed by Microsoft in the late 1980s. It is a proprietary format that is used to store and exchange text documents between different applications and platforms. RTF files are similar to plain text files, but they contain formatting information such as font size, font type, and paragraph formatting. RTF files can be opened and edited using a variety of text editors and word processors, including Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, and OpenOffice.
