About RFN files

The Problem: You have a .RFN file, which is a RoboForm Secure Note created by RoboForm, a long-standing password management solution by Siber Systems. Unlike standard text files, .RFN files are heavily encrypted (often using AES or Blowfish algorithms) to protect sensitive information like ATM pins, software license keys, or Wi-Fi passwords. A major limitation is that you cannot simply double-click these files or open them in a standard text editor like Notepad; doing so reveals only unreadable binary garbage. Furthermore, if you have lost the Master Password associated with the specific installation that created the note, the file is effectively cryptographically locked forever.

The Solution: To make this data usable, the file must first be decrypted using the RoboForm client. For archiving or migrating to another password manager, the best conversion target is CSV (Comma Separated Values), which is universally supported by import tools in competitors like LastPass or 1Password. For simple reading or hard-copy backup, converting to TXT or printing to PDF is recommended.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RFN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RFP, RFT and RFO files.
