About RFO files

RFO files are primarily RoboForm Data Backup files created by Siber Systems for their password management suite. These files serve as a proprietary snapshot of your digital life, containing encrypted Logins, Safenotes, and Identities. The core issue users face is format inaccessibility: an .RFO file is not a standard database. You cannot simply double-click it in Microsoft Excel or Notepad to recover a lost password. The data is encoded and strictly tied to the RoboForm ecosystem, meaning you typically must reinstall the software to access the contents.

To migrate your credentials to a new manager like 1Password or Bitwarden, the most effective workflow is to restore the .RFO within RoboForm and export the data to CSV (Comma-Separated Values). For creating a human-readable hard copy, converting that export to PDF or HTML is common, though this should be done with extreme caution regarding security.

In a separate context, an .RFO file may function as an encrypted license file for Maxwell Render. These are binary keys used solely for software activation and possess no convertibility for editing or viewing.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RFO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RFT, RFP and RFN files.
