About PCI files

A .pci file is most frequently associated with proprietary microscopy imaging software developed by Quartz Imaging Corporation for acquiring images from Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEMs). These files contain high-fidelity raster data critical for scientific analysis but are notoriously difficult to open without the specific licensed software, which can cost thousands of dollars. A significant catch for researchers is sharing these results; standard viewers like Adobe Photoshop or web browsers simply do not recognize the format. To make this data accessible to colleagues or for publication, the best workflow is converting these images to TIFF to preserve lossless measurement data, or JPG for quick email sharing.

Alternatively, a .pci file may be a configuration file for Notifier by Honeywell fire alarm panels. These system files store critical device settings and network parameters. Users often attempt to open these expecting a readable log, only to find unreadable binary data or strictly formatted text that requires the proprietary ConfigTool. For documentation purposes, converting these configuration files to PDF or viewing them as TXT is the most practical way to archive system states without risking accidental modification.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PCI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JPG, SID, DPL, STS, KCF, PCF, CI, UCI, DPM and NCI files.

The PCI Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PCI converter.
