About DPL files

The .DPL file extension is a multi-format chameleon, most commonly representing Datamax Programming Language files used by industrial label printers (now under Honeywell) or multimedia playlists for the Daum PotPlayer.

1. Printer & Label Files: In industrial settings, DPL files contain raw ASCII command strings that instruct a printer how to layout barcodes and text. The significant disadvantage is that these are code-based, not visual; you cannot double-click to preview the label in standard image viewers. To proof a design without wasting physical label stock, users must convert these commands into visual formats like PDF or JPG.

2. Multimedia Playlists: PotPlayer users create DPL files to organize playback queues.
