To convert other file formats to the "BIM Drawing File" file type, you need software like Allplan or a similar tool.
A .dpm file typically represents a proprietary drawing or document container generated by Allplan, a leading BIM (Building Information Modeling) solution by the Nemetschek Group. These files are often created during the layout and plotting phase (Digital Plot Management) or as project snapshots, encapsulating architectural vector data, layouts, and annotation layers.
The catch for users is proprietary lock-in: a .dpm file is not a standard interchange format like DXF or IFC. It cannot be opened directly in AutoCAD, Revit, or standard PDF viewers without the original authoring software. Engineers and architects often receive these files and find themselves unable to view the geometry or print the drawing without access to an expensive Allplan license.
A secondary, distinct use case (approx. 1% of files) is the Digidesign Plug-in Module. These are legacy 32-bit audio plugins (RTAS format) used by older versions of Avid Pro Tools (prior to version 11). These files are effectively executable libraries and cannot be "converted" to audio formats like MP3 or WAV; they are rendered obsolete by the modern AAX 64-bit plugin standard.
