About LYT files

The .LYT file extension primarily represents a PCB Layout design created by Labcenter Electronics Proteus ARES, a prominent Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tool. These files contain the physical architecture of a printed circuit board, including component footprints, copper traces, and layer definitions. A secondary but growing use case is for Lychee Slicer scenes, used to prepare 3D models for resin printing.

The Problem: The Proteus .LYT format is proprietary and binary. Most PCB manufacturing houses (Fab Houses) cannot accept .LYT files directly; they require industry-standard Gerber files to fabricate the board. Additionally, sharing a design with a client or mechanical engineer who lacks a paid Labcenter Proteus license creates a significant workflow bottleneck. You cannot simply open these files in a text editor or standard viewer.

The Solution:

Convert.Guru analyzes your LYT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDSPRJ, LAY, ZIP, LYS, LAY6, DSN, LSS, JPG, TGA, RAR, ART, PDF and MSO files.

The LYT Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LYT converter.
