Convert FZ to another file type
To convert FZ projects to another format, you need Fritzing or other Cad software.
Convert a file to FZ
To convert other file formats to the "Electronic Circuit Schematic" file type, you need software like Fritzing or a similar tool.
About FZ files
The .FZ file extension is primarily used for electronic boardview schematics and circuit design sketches. Repair technicians use .FZ files to analyze PCB components, traces, and test points on ASUS motherboards. Alternatively, it serves as an XML-based project file for Fritzing, an open-source hardware initiative for electronic prototyping. A smaller subset of .FZ files contains compressed FITS astronomical data used by NASA.
To open these files, users must rely on highly specific software. Boardview files require dedicated PCB viewers like FlexBV or OpenBoardView. Fritzing sketches require the original Fritzing application, while astronomical files rely on the CFITSIO library.
The main disadvantage of the .FZ format is severe fragmentation. A single file extension represents completely incompatible data types. Boardview formats are notoriously undocumented, proprietary, and difficult to share with non-technical clients who refuse to install niche software. Fritzing files, while based on standard XML, rely heavily on external, local part libraries to render correctly, meaning shared files often appear broken on other computers.
Converting .FZ files is essential for documentation and sharing. Fritzing users should export their designs to PDF, SVG, or PNG formats to preserve visual accuracy without requiring the recipient to install the software. Boardview users often resort to capturing screenshots as JPG or printing schematics directly to PDF.
Because of the closed, proprietary nature of many .FZ boardview files, standard online converters usually fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the raw geometric data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert FZ file to PDF, DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT or X_T, you can use Fritzing or similar software from the "Electronic Circuit Schematic Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to FZ, try Fritzing or another comparable tool in the "Electronic Circuit Schematic Storage" category.
The FZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FZ converter.
