Extract text from Fritzing part files (FZPZ)

The .fzpz file is a proprietary electronic component container used by Fritzing, an open-source hardware initiative. Fritzing uses these files to share custom electronic parts that are not included in the core software library. A single .fzpz file is technically a standard ZIP archive. It bundles exactly one fzp (Fritzing Part) XML file defining the electrical metadata, alongside up to four svg files that represent the part visually in breadboard, schematic, PCB, and icon views.
Users often need to convert or extract .fzpz files because the format is strictly locked into the Fritzing ecosystem. You cannot natively import an .fzpz file into standard professional Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software like KiCad or Eagle. This limited cross-compatibility is a major disadvantage. Furthermore, web browsers and standard image viewers cannot read the .fzpz extension natively. If you want to modify the visual representation of the part, you must extract the internal files and use external vector graphic editors.
The best conversion targets for an .fzpz file are standard ZIP, SVG, or XML. By extracting the archive, you gain direct access to the raw vector drawings and pin metadata. This file format is difficult to convert directly into other CAD footprint formats because part definitions vary vastly between different EDA tools. Standard online converters fail because they do not understand the Fritzing-specific XML schema.
