Convert a file to RBXM
To convert other file formats to the "Roblox Binary Model" file type, you need software like Roblox Studio or a similar tool.
About RBXM files
The .RBXM file is a proprietary Roblox Binary Model used to store 3D models, scripts, and properties exclusively for the Roblox gaming platform. It is managed primarily using Roblox Studio (read more on Wikipedia). The primary disadvantage of the .RBXM format is its strict vendor lock-in. Outside of the Roblox ecosystem, these files are completely useless. You cannot open them in standard 3D modeling software, web browsers, or other game engines. They also contain embedded scripts which pose security and compatibility challenges if extracted improperly. Users usually need to convert these files when they want to edit the 3D geometry in external tools or use the assets in different projects. For editing in professional 3D software like Blender, convert to OBJ or FBX. For 3D printing, convert to STL. Note that conversion typically only exports the 3D mesh and textures; proprietary Lua scripts and specific Roblox physical properties will be lost. Just drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it securely right in your browser.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RBXM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RBXM file to OBJ, FBX, PNG, RBXL, MESH, LUA, BLEND, MP3, JS, TS, PY or JAVA, you can use Roblox Studio or similar software from the "Roblox 3D Asset Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The RBXM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RBXM converter.
