Convert F3D to another file type
To convert F3D design archives to another format, you need Autodesk Fusion 360 or other 3D software.
Convert a file to F3D
To convert other file formats to the "Parametric CAD Archive" file type, you need software like Autodesk Fusion 360 or a similar tool.
About F3D files
The .F3D file extension primarily represents a Fusion 360 Design Archive created by Autodesk Fusion 360. It stores 3D CAD models, including sketches, solid bodies, components, textures, and the parametric design history timeline. Internally, an .F3D file is structured as a ZIP archive containing proprietary Autodesk data files.
Because this format is strictly proprietary, users face significant challenges when trying to share or open these files outside the Autodesk ecosystem. The software requires an active subscription and relies heavily on cloud processing. You cannot natively view an .F3D file in standard web browsers, basic document viewers, or competing CAD suites.
Users typically need to convert .F3D files to universal 3D formats like STEP, IGES, STL, or OBJ for manufacturing, 3D printing, or importing into other CAD tools like SolidWorks or Blender. Be aware that converting an .F3D file to a neutral format strips the parametric design history, leaving you with a "dumb solid" or a polygon mesh that is much harder to edit.
This closed file format is notoriously difficult to process. Often, only the original Autodesk Fusion 360 software can properly read the design tree or export the data. Standard online converters fail because they lack the proprietary algorithms to render the CAD parameters. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your F3D file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert F3D file to STL, STEP, DXF, DWG, 3MF, OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND or MA, you can use Autodesk Fusion 360 or similar software from the "3D CAD Model Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to F3D, try Autodesk Fusion 360 or another comparable tool in the "3D CAD Model Archive" category.
The F3D Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our F3D converter.
