Convert F3Z to another file type
To convert your F3Z file to another format, you need Autodesk Fusion or other Cad software.
Convert a file to F3Z
To convert other file formats to the "3D Design Archive" file type, you need software like Autodesk Fusion or a similar tool.
About F3Z files
The .F3Z file extension represents a distributed design archive created by Autodesk Fusion (formerly Fusion 360). Unlike the standard F3D file which stores a single design, the .F3Z format is used specifically when exporting an assembly that contains external references (XRefs) or linked components. It is essentially a standard ZIP container that bundles the main assembly file, all referenced child designs, and a JSON manifest into a single package for easier sharing or offline backup.
While convenient for keeping complex project hierarchies intact, .F3Z files present significant compatibility hurdles. They are proprietary to the Autodesk ecosystem, meaning you cannot open them directly in other CAD tools like SolidWorks, Blender, or Rhino without conversion. Furthermore, viewing the 3D geometry requires an Autodesk account and cloud upload, as local offline viewers are limited. For 3D printing or machining, you must convert the data to a geometry-only format. For interoperability with other engineering software, the best target is STEP (AP214 or AP203), which preserves assembly structure and solid geometry. For 3D printing, convert to STL or 3MF. If you simply need to access the individual component files, you can treat the file as a ZIP archive to extract the contained F3D models.
Convert.Guru analyzes your F3Z file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert F3Z file to STEP, STL, F3D, DWG, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ or LZMA, you can use Autodesk Fusion or similar software from the "3D CAD Assembly Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to F3Z, try Autodesk Fusion or another comparable tool in the "3D CAD Assembly Archive" category.
The F3Z Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our F3Z converter.
