About DOWNLOADING files
A .downloading file is a temporary data cache created by cloud storage services and download managers like TeraBox, Baidu Netdisk, and legacy apps like Pando. These files act as placeholders while a file is actively transferring over the internet. Once the transfer completes, the client automatically strips the .downloading extension to reveal the actual file, such as a ZIP, RAR, 7Z, or EXE. The core disadvantage of a .downloading file is that it is fundamentally incomplete. Because it represents a broken or unfinished data stream, it is completely unsupported by standard software and web browsers. You cannot natively open it because crucial file headers, metadata, or end-of-file markers are missing. Users often desperately want to convert or open these files when a massive download fails at 99%, hoping to salvage gigabytes of trapped data. Standard online converters fail to process these files because they expect a complete, valid file structure. Conversion is not about changing formats, but about extracting whatever partial data survived. If the underlying file is an archive, renaming the extension to RAR or ZIP and using WinRAR with the 'Keep broken files' option is the best workaround.
