About DOI files

A .DOI file is a highly compressed optional data archive used primarily in the video game repacking scene. It holds game components like localized voiceovers, multiplayer files, or bonus soundtracks. These files are built on the FreeArc compression format and are distributed by repackers such as FitGirl Repacks and DODI Repacks. They are also encountered in the Yuzu Switch emulator community. The major disadvantage of a .DOI file is its extreme proprietary lock-in. It is not supported by native operating systems or common web browsers. You cannot open it natively with WinRAR or 7-Zip. Extracting the raw music or texture files inside requires running a potentially unwanted third-party installer script. The ideal solution is converting or extracting the .DOI container into universally recognized formats like ZIP, 7Z, or TAR. This unbinds the inner files, though the overall file size will increase because standard archivers cannot match FreeArc's aggressive compression ratios. This file format is difficult to open or convert because FreeArc utilizes complex, customized compression dictionaries that standard archivers reject. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DOI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PSARC, PDF, HTM, CSV, DOCX, HEIC, RIS, TXT, JPG, BIN, SAV, BIBTEX and URL files.

The DOI Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DOI converter.
