About CR3 files

The .CR3 file extension represents the Canon Raw 3 image format, introduced by Canon in 2018 starting with the EOS M50 camera. Technically built upon the ISO Base Media File Format (structured similarly to an MP4 file), it stores exact, uncompressed or losslessly compressed light data captured by the camera's sensor. Photographers typically manage and develop these files using specialized raw processors like Canon Digital Photo Professional, Adobe Lightroom, or Capture One.

The primary disadvantage of the .CR3 format is its proprietary nature and massive file size. Because these files contain unprocessed sensor data, they look 'flat' right out of the camera. More importantly, .CR3 files are not supported by standard web browsers, cannot be uploaded to most social media platforms, and require heavy desktop software or paid subscriptions to open and view properly.

To share or publish your photos, conversion is mandatory. For web use, social media, and client previews, convert your .CR3 to JPG or WebP. For professional archiving or lossless editing workflows, convert to TIFF or DNG.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CR3 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted HIF, BIN, CR5, RC3, CR, CRS, CM3, CP3, SR3, CER, OC3, CRE and CRM files.
