About TIB files

A .TIB file is a proprietary disk image backup created by Acronis True Image (now called Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office). It stores an exact, sector-by-sector replica of a computer hard drive, including the operating system, installed applications, system settings, and user data. IT professionals and home users rely on these files for bare-metal disaster recovery or system migrations.

However, the .TIB format comes with significant disadvantages. It is a strictly closed, proprietary format. Files routinely exceed 100GB. Furthermore, you cannot natively mount or extract a .TIB file using Windows Explorer or macOS Finder. Accessing the contents requires purchasing an expensive Acronis subscription or installing their heavy desktop client. If a multi-volume archive is missing a single part, the entire backup is often rendered useless and permanently corrupted.

Users frequently want to convert .TIB files to universally supported virtual disk formats like VHD, VHDX, or standard ISO images. Alternatively, users want to extract standard documents and media files from inside the archive. Unfortunately, standard online converters fail to process .TIB files because of their extreme file size, complex block-level compression, and potential encryption.

Because this is a closed, proprietary format, only the original Acronis software can properly read or export the data. Our platform can identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TIB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TIBX, ISO, VHDX, TIF, NPY, PKPASS, SLDPRT, INP, ZIP, ENC, TB, GB and GIB files.

The TIB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TIB converter.
