About PKPASS files

The .pkpass file is an Apple Wallet Pass used to store digital boarding passes, event tickets, coupons, and loyalty cards. Technically, it is a ZIP archive containing a pass.json dictionary, localized text, and image assets like icon.png and logo.png, all cryptographically signed by Apple. While native to iOS and macOS devices via the Apple Wallet app, the .pkpass format presents severe limitations outside the Apple ecosystem. On Android, Windows, or Linux, these files cannot be opened natively without installing third-party applications. Furthermore, sharing a ticket with someone who does not use a smartphone wallet app often causes confusion, as the raw file appears broken or unreadable to standard text editors or image viewers. To ensure universal compatibility, you must convert the pass. For archiving or printing your boarding pass, convert to PDF. If you only need the QR code or barcode for scanning, extract it to JPG or PNG. For inspecting the raw data, change the extension to zip and extract the JSON payload. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PKPASS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
