About SRS files
The .SRS extension is a fragmented identifier used by distinct software ecosystems, creating significant confusion for users. Its most widespread use is the Microsoft Outlook Send/Receive Settings file, a proprietary Microsoft Compound binary that stores synchronization group configurations. These files are notoriously prone to corruption, causing Outlook to freeze during email retrieval, yet they cannot be opened or edited by standard text editors. Users often need to interact with .SRS files to troubleshoot email errors, though direct conversion of this specific type is limited to regeneration.
In multimedia contexts, .SRS represents legacy SRS Audio Sandbox files (containers for surround sound processing) or Video Samples (often renamed MKV snippets from scene releases). These formats are functionally obsolete; they require specific, often defunct drivers or codecs to play. For audio preservation, the best course of action is converting these containers to universally supported formats like MP3 or WAV. For video samples, converting to MP4 ensures playback on modern devices. Additionally, the extension is used by Sing-box for compiled proxy rulesets and Anki for spaced repetition databases. Because of this ambiguity, using a tool to identify the header signature before attempting conversion is critical.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SRS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SRS file to PSD, CPF, INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML or ENV, you can use Microsoft Outlook or similar software from the "Send/Receive Settings Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to SRS, try Microsoft Outlook or another comparable tool in the "Send/Receive Settings Configuration" category.
The SRS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SRS converter.
