Most commonly (26%), a .cpf file is a Yamaha Keyboard Expansion Pack. These are proprietary, encrypted containers used to add new voices, styles, and songs to Yamaha arrangers like the Genos or PSR-SX series. Because they are locked to specific instrument IDs or hardware, they cannot be simply 'played' on a PC or converted directly to standard audio formats like MP3 or WAV without the Yamaha Expansion Manager software.
