About RP files

An .RP file is primarily an Axure RP Project file created by Axure RP. These files store user interface wireframes, interactive prototypes, page layouts, and UX logic. UX and UI designers use them to test digital products before coding begins. Modern .RP files function as compressed ZIP containers holding proprietary XML structural data, CSS styling, and raw image assets.

The main disadvantage of the .RP format is that it is entirely proprietary and closed. You cannot view the interactive elements without an active Axure RP subscription or relying on the Axure Cloud infrastructure. Because the dynamic interactions and logic are deeply tied to Axure's specific rendering engine, standard online file converters fail to process .RP files. They simply cannot interpret the complex internal logic required to accurately translate the file into universal formats without breaking the design.

To share these designs with stakeholders, the best conversion targets are HTML for interactive, browser-based viewing, or PDF, PNG, and JPG for static visual reviews. Usually, only the native software can accurately execute this export. However, you can still use convert.guru. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. Since many .RP files are actually ZIP archives under the hood, our tool can often identify the file format, inspect the internal structure, and help you extract the embedded images or text data even without the native software.
