Convert PKL to another file type
To convert PKL pickle files to another format, you need Python or other Developer software.
Convert a file to PKL
To convert other file formats to the "Serialized Object File" file type, you need software like Python or a similar tool.
About PKL files
A .pkl file is a serialized data object created by the Python programming language using its pickle module. It is widely used in data science and software development to save complex structures, such as machine learning models or dictionaries, directly to disk as a byte stream. The format is intrinsically tied to Python and is natively managed by Python scripts. Despite its convenience, the .pkl format has severe disadvantages. It is notoriously dangerous; unpickling a file from an untrusted source can execute arbitrary, malicious code on your system. Furthermore, it is a proprietary binary format that cannot be read in standard text editors or easily used by other programming languages like Java or C++. Files are also heavily dependent on specific Python versions and environment setups, leading to frequent load errors. To safely view your data and guarantee cross-platform compatibility, it is best to convert your file. For web integration and general readability, convert to JSON. For tabular data, such as Pandas DataFrames, convert to CSV or Excel. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser - free, online, and without installing software. Note that while simple data arrays convert perfectly, compiled behavioral objects may lose their functions when exported to plain text.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PKL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PKL file to CSV, JSON, TXT, H5, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF or DAT, you can use Python or similar software from the "Serialized Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to PKL, try Python or another comparable tool in the "Serialized Data Storage" category.
The PKL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PKL converter.
