Extract text from PKL files

To convert other file formats to the "Serialized Data" file type, you need software like Python or a similar tool.
A .PKL file is most commonly a Python Pickle file, a binary format used to serialize and save Python object structures (like lists, dictionaries, or Pandas DataFrames) to a disk. It allows complex data types and machine learning models (e.g., from Scikit-learn or PyTorch) to be stored and retrieved later. A newer, less common use is for Apple Pkl, a programmable configuration language designed to generate static configuration files.
A common issue with Python .PKL files is that they are language-specific and binary. You cannot open them in standard text editors, Microsoft Excel, or web browsers. Furthermore, they are insecure by design - loading a pickle file from an untrusted source can execute malicious code on your machine. Version compatibility is another difficulty; a file pickled in Python 3 may not open correctly in Python 2 or different library versions.
To make the data usable, you typically need to convert .PKL files. For data analysis and spreadsheets, convert Pandas objects to CSV or XLSX. For web interoperability and safety, convert generic Python objects to JSON. If you are working with the Apple Pkl format, the standard workflow is rendering (converting) the file into JSON, YAML, or XML for application use.
