About OGF files
An .OGF file is a proprietary 3D model container utilized exclusively by the X-Ray Engine for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series of video games developed by GSC Game World. These files store character meshes, weapons, mutants, and environmental objects required by the game.
Modders and developers typically interact with these files using the official X-Ray SDK. Alternatively, community-created plugins allow importing and exporting via popular 3D suites like Blender and Autodesk 3ds Max.
The .OGF format comes with severe limitations outside of its native ecosystem. It is a strictly proprietary, closed binary format. You cannot open an .OGF file natively in modern game engines like Unity or Unreal, nor will standard 3D modeling software or web browsers recognize it. Attempting to force-open it results in unreadable binary data.
To modify or reuse these assets, you must convert the .OGF file to widely supported target formats. Convert to OBJ for static meshes, or FBX and SMD to preserve complex skeletal rigging and bone weights. Be aware that game-specific shader parameters and collision data are usually lost during conversion.
Because .OGF is an undocumented format, standard online converters fail completely to parse its geometry. Often, only the original SDK or dedicated modding scripts can properly read the data. If our analysis detects an embedded format we support, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your OGF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert OGF file to OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND, MA, MB, C4D, STL, PLY or WRL, you can use X-Ray Engine or similar software from the "3D Game Asset Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to OGF, try X-Ray Engine or another comparable tool in the "3D Game Asset Storage" category.
The OGF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OGF converter.
