To convert other file formats to the "iWork Spreadsheet" file type, you need software like Apple Numbers or a similar tool.
About NUMBERS files
The .numbers file format is the default spreadsheet document created by Apple Numbers, part of the iWork office suite for macOS and iOS. Under the hood, these files are compressed ZIP packages containing XML data, property lists (PLIST), and media assets.
The primary disadvantage of a .numbers file is its strict vendor lock-in. You cannot open it natively on Microsoft Windows, Android, or standard Linux distributions. Without a Mac, iPad, or an active iCloud account, the data is completely inaccessible. Furthermore, complex formatting and proprietary Apple fonts often fail to render correctly outside of the Apple ecosystem.
To collaborate or analyze the data freely, conversion is required. For editing in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, convert to XLSX. For raw data extraction into databases or Python scripts, convert to CSV. For printing or long-term archiving, use PDF.
Drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software. Convert.guru securely processes the file to give you immediate access to your locked data.

The NUMBERS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NUMBERS converter.
