A .rhl file is primarily a Rhino 3D model lock file or history log created by Rhinoceros 3D. Users often confuse the .rhl file with the actual 3DM 3D model file and send it to clients, resulting in empty or failed imports. As a lock file, it merely contains temporary UTF-8 text metadata (like computer names and timestamps), not 3D geometry.
Converting a .rhl file usually means extracting its UTF-8 text into TXT or PDF for logging purposes. For the rare audio variants, extraction to WAV or SF2 is ideal. Standard 3D converters fail completely with this format because they expect to find NURBS or mesh data, which does not exist here.
