About NFT files

The .nft file extension is a technical chameleon, most frequently associated with the Gamebryo game engine. Within this ecosystem, it functions as a proprietary game asset or texture file. These files store specific 3D model textures, character skins, or environment details required by games built on this framework. Additionally, .nft files serve as encrypted CAD data files for Nemetschek Allplan architectural software, and as PLC project files for Do-more Designer from AutomationDirect.

The main disadvantage of .nft files is their highly proprietary and fragmented nature. Gamebryo assets are deeply integrated into the engine's compilation process and cannot be opened natively by standard image viewers or 3D modeling tools like Blender. They are closed formats lacking cross-platform interoperability. For the encrypted Allplan CAD variants, external conversion is impossible without the original decryption keys, user permissions, and native software.

If you need to edit an .nft texture, you typically must extract and convert it to a standard PNG or DDS format using specialized modding tools or the Gamebryo SDK. For CAD files, you must request the original author to export the data to a standard format like DXF or IFC.

Because these formats are highly specialized and often contain proprietary game data, encrypted models, or raw PLC programming instructions (sometimes using zlib or ZIP compression), standard online converters fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Just drag and drop your file to convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Our analysis tools can inspect the file, detect the underlying structure, show text, and extract embedded content where possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NFT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted NEF, NIF, JPG, XML, PNG, KF, ALO, XMD and CRYPTO files.

The NFT Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NFT converter.
