About MXP files
The .MXP file extension is most frequently associated with Quantitative PCR (qPCR) experiment data generated by the Agilent MxPro software (formerly Stratagene). These files contain critical scientific data, including amplification plots, dissociation curves, and Ct values derived from Mx3000P or Mx3005P systems. A common issue with this format is its proprietary nature; analyzing results often requires access to the specific instrument software, which may be outdated or unavailable on personal computers. Researchers typically need to convert these datasets into XLSX (Excel) or CSV formats to perform statistical analysis in tools like GraphPad Prism or R.
However, a significant number of .MXP files are legacy Macromedia Extension Packages used to install add-ons for older versions of Adobe Creative Suite (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks). Since Adobe transitioned to the ZXP format with the release of Creative Suite 6, modern Extension Managers cannot natively open or install MXP files. This creates a problem for designers trying to use archived plugins. In these cases, the file is essentially a compressed archive. A common workaround involves converting the MXP to ZXP using the legacy Adobe Extension Manager CS6, or simply renaming the extension to ZIP to extract and inspect the underlying assets.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MXP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted MXF, XMP, ZIP, XPS, MPX, JPG, ZXP, PRM and AEX files.
The MXP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MXP converter.
